TIME TO CATCH OUR COLLECTIVE BREATHS!

The 2012 FMBC Tournament was the most successful in our history. We cannot even begin to give adequate thanks to all of you who helped make it a success for the music students of Florida. We hope that your experience was a great one!!

And our special congratulations to the 2011 FMBC Scholarship Winners, the ninety-seven semi-finalist bands, the twenty-five Finalists, and the five class champions.

Again we would like to extend our appreciation to Brian Dell and the National Band Association for the special presentation of their coveted National Band Association Marching Excellence awards at FMBC Finals.

We wish all of you success as you prepare for indoor season, and for FBA's winter and spring Music Performance Assessments in Jazz Ensemble, solo and ensemble, and Concert Band.

FMEA CONVENTION

We enjoyed seeing so many of you in Tampa at the FMEA convention this year. It is wonderful to hear so many fine groups perform, especially so early in the school calendar. Directors and students, you never cease to amaze.

ATTENTION: 2012 FMBC
REGIONAL SHOW HOSTS

Show hosts - with Leap Year this year, the calendar will adjust by several days, and we already are seeing some requests for changing traditional Regional Show weekends. FMBC continues to strive to help sanctioned shows succeed by working with all Regional Show hosts to minimize conflicts on a given weekend in any specific geographic region, and this becomes especially difficult when the calendar not only includes Leap Year, but also when so many school districts are adjusting their academic calendar for an earlier start to the academic year.

It is important for you to let us know when you would like to hold your 2012 FMBC Regional Show as soon as possible. If there is a potential conflict with another show in your region, we will work with you and with the other show host to try to minimize overlaps, so that all shows can be as successful as possible. Priority is always given to the shows with the most seniority.

Our Regional Show Coordinator, Steve Detjen, will maintain the Master Calendar for 2012, and will work with our home office if any potential problems come up.

We are not actively soliciting any new Regional Shows for 2012, but every year, some shows are phased out of our system and often there is room to add a show to replace them. If you are thinking about hosting an FMBC Regional Show, first check out our Rules and Regulations. Then if you would like to proceed, contact Steve and let him know, and we will add you to our waiting list.
